Interesting Products š ed.2
I did the edition 1 of this a couple of weeks ago and the response was overwhelmingly positive.Ā
So here is edition 2. (FYI, I also publish this on my LinkedIn)
The idea is simple; every week Iāll compile 2-3 products that were launched on Product Hunt recently which I believe have the potential to become viable businesses.
I do this because of 2 things:
These products were very likely built by indie developers on modest budgets, so you can try and build it yourself or even better see if you can partner up with this person(s).Ā
It will expose you to opportunities and ideas that maybe you can apply to the problem that you are solving.
Papapal: Learn a foreign language writing emails to people.
Why do I think this is good?
It fits into something that people are already comfortable with - emails.
Creates an opportunity for people to socialise and learn at the same time.Ā
Network effects can be built into the product.
Will fit as possible acquisition targets for Grammarly, Duolingo etc.
The product had about 150 upvotes and was built by an indie maker. If you are building it yourself, then you might want to add some network effects into the service like the ability to invite more people to the mail chain so that it becomes a thread [more socialising opportunity].Ā
Gamify the experience by adding rewards for accuracy, frequency of interaction and number of new user invitations.Ā
Instamint: Create NFTs from your Instagram posts
Why do I think this is good?
Built in market of photographers and creators on IG.
Photographs are unique by default, so NFTs are perfect.
Some photographers have an existing audience on IG.
This product had less than 50 upvotes at the time of writing this. One way to make this product more viral is to create a system where people can tag pictures that could be added to the marketplace directly from Instagram.Ā
This can help establish a famous hashtag + it makes it easy for people interested in buying NFT properties to curate posts right out of Instagram.Ā
Revenue model could be a simple commission on every sale or monthly subscription to get reduced commission rates like Gumroad does.Ā
Vinyl - Dating app based entirely on music compatibility
Why do I think this is good?
Playing on peopleās common taste.
Multiple monetisation options.
Easy to explain value proposition.
This product had less than 50 upvotes. This product can be monetised through memberships like Tinder, Spotify Premium Ads [partnership] or general advertisements.
You can also tier the premium membership by the number of genres selected, ability to add new songs frequently, first messaging privileges etc.Ā
It is also easy to market since you can push ads/content tailor made for specific artists or genres. Once you grow to a certain size, you can also get minor artists to shout out the app to their fan base. Network effects are very much part of the productsā DNA.
So those were the 3 products for this edition.Ā If you like this type of content, reply back with a āyesā, else ignore.
