Screenwriting is one of the pillars of content creation ranging from feature length films to YouTube videos.
Screenwriting software in particular has been gaining a lot of attention in the last few years.
And what’s better is that there are a lot of players in the market who can be easily disrupted with a product that won't take more than a couple of weeks to build.
In essence what most screenwriters need is a notepad with custom screenwriting format shortcuts. It is that simple.
There is a fixed logic to how things work and they have changed very little in the last 20 years.
This is an opportunity that is there for the taking in the hands of a good solo developer or a small team.
In fact, this idea is so simple that if you can build it then I would be happy to partner up with you as a co-founder.
You can take this venture in 2 ways. Either create a web tool that people can log in and start writing or create a desktop/Mac app that people can download and start writing (even offline).
There are 2 good players in the market: FinalDraft and StudioBinder. FinalDraft doesn’t seem to be all that good at marketing themselves.
StudioBinder on the other hand does really good work on their blog and YouTube channel. So if you are going after someone, it has to be StudioBinder.
Both companies' revenues are in the millions and they have been in the market for a long time.
FinalDraft was founded in 1991 and Studio Binder in 2014, so there is a good revenue generating potential in this market.
With all that said, let’s get started.

SEO Keywords
The SEO keywords shared in the report are based on current competition FinalDraft and StudioBinder.
There are 2 types of Keywords:
Intent based keywords
Context based keywords (LSI)
Intent based keywords are phrases that you’ll want to rank for on Google search. Keywords like “screenwriting software“, “write scripts online” etc will fall under this category.
To get the most out of Intent based keywords use them in important places like titles, H1s and subheadings.
In short, build your web pages around these keywords.
Also, if you want to be more aggressive in acquiring customers, you can use “Intent keywords” in your PPC campaigns for search and GDN (Google Display Network) ads.

Context based keywords (LSI) on the other hand are used to indicate to search engines that a particular webpage is about a certain topic.
For example a page about screenwriting software will likely have LSI keywords like script, dialogue, format, beats etc.
To get the most out of LSI keywords use them in your webpage’s body text. Keep the density of these keywords to about 1-2% of the total keywords on the page.
Long story short, add these keywords to your paragraphs and other less important locations.
